The Burns Unit Story
The Burns Unit Band was formed back in 2001 when the drummer, lead guitar, bass guitar, and rhythm guitar got together in the drummer’s dining room to jam together. The original members were all work colleagues. Those sessions were very successful and led to the first gig – a works Christmas party that year.
From the outset, all the band members have had a strong rapport, both socially but especially musically. Although some of the members have changed over the years, and all are talented musicians, we have never had any “Prima Donnas”. As a result, the band is very democratic and makes a special effort to ensure that each member can express themselves freely – again, both socially and musically.
The original lead guitar and lead vocalist was a talented slide and blues enthusiast whose name was Pat Burns. One of our other work colleagues suggested the band name “The Burns Unit” and this has remained with us.
Currently, the band has 6 members:- lead guitar/vocals; two lead vocalists; rhythm guitar; bass guitar; drums.
